Wet on Wet Watercolour Technique

Wet on Wet Technique

This simple landscape shows how to use wet on wet effects with a suggestions of trees painted on top. Wet the sky area with clean water, then drop your colours onto it, allowing your colours to run in together. After this has dried, repeat the effect on the ground. Leave to dry again then paint trees on top with a stronger paint.

Tip: Work quickly and limit your palette, try not to overlay the colours too many times to keep the colours fresh and vivid.
