Sennelier 80 Assorted Extra Soft Half Pastels
Sennelier 80 Assorted Extra Soft Half Pastels
The name Sennelier has been synonymous with the finest pastels available in the world, whose intensity of colour and singular velvety feel have been appreciated by pastelists since the turn of the century. Sennelier’s first colours were comissioned by Degas, and are made the same way today, formed by hand and naturally air dried. Unlike other pastels, Sennelier pastels are pure pigment, giving the maxiumum lightfastness and are devoid of any clay, which dulls the pastels colour. They are so highly concentrated and velvety that the gentlest stroke delivers a solid, powerful line of pure colour. Fine variations of shading and the mellowest tones are possible becuase of their high quality composotion which compliments any surface. Sennelier uses the world famous “craie champenoise” to create the varied shades of colour, a white pigment only found in Eastern France that is renowned for its beauty and creamy texture. An exclusive natural binder hold the pigments together, yielding vivid, and water-soluble colour.
This set offers an introduction to Sennelier at an affordable price, perfect fro beginners and students. For professionals, the unlabled half stick’s larger and more robust form are perfect for turning on their sides and applying broad and bold strokes of colour.
The length difference between soft pastels is due to the difference in nature of the pigments used according to colour. The length is defined by the size of the tray and it is done manually. When the soft pastel dries, it shrinks and the shrinking does vary according to the nature of the pigment. It doesn’t alter the quality of the product but gives it an authentic appearance.
