Description

Deep Pour Resin Serving Board Workshop – Loop Handle | Saturday 3rd October, 2:30pm – Gedling

Join us at our Gedling shop on Saturday 3rd October at 2:30pm for a hands-on Deep Pour Resin Serving Board Workshop, where you’ll create your own statement resin and wood serving board using our distinctive loop-handle silicone mould.

This workshop is designed for anyone who wants to understand more about working with deep-pour epoxy resin and larger resin projects, while creating a beautiful finished piece of their own.

Your serving board will be approximately 63cm x 21cm, with the final depth depending on the natural wood available for the workshop. Because every piece of timber has its own grain, shape, knots and character, no two finished boards will ever be exactly the same.

What You’ll Learn

This is more than simply choosing a colour and pouring resin.

During the workshop, we’ll explain the important differences between coating resin, casting resin and deep-pour epoxy resin, including why different resins have different maximum pour depths and curing times.

You’ll learn about:

  • Choosing the correct resin for larger projects
  • Understanding deep-pour resin and pour depths
  • Why resin generates heat while curing
  • Preparing natural wood for resin casting
  • Positioning your timber inside the mould
  • Calculating and measuring resin
  • Correct resin mixing techniques
  • Adding pigments and creating your chosen colour effect
  • Managing bubbles
  • Working times and curing times
  • How moulds for larger resin projects are designed and prepared
  • How the techniques learned in this workshop can be adapted for future boards, table tops and larger resin projects

Make Your Own Loop-Handle Serving Board

For your practical project, you’ll work with one of our specially made silicone loop-handle moulds.

Your finished board will measure approximately:

63cm long x 21cm wide

The depth will vary depending on the timber we are able to source for the workshop.

You’ll choose and position your wood, plan your resin design and colours, mix your deep-pour epoxy and create your own individual resin and wood serving board.

Natural wood is a huge part of what makes these projects special. Grain, live edges, knots, shape and colour will vary, meaning your finished piece will be genuinely unique.

Perfect for Anyone Wanting to Progress With Resin

This workshop is ideal if you are interested in taking your resin skills beyond smaller projects and learning techniques that can be used for larger serving boards, table tops, river tables and resin furniture.

You do not need to arrive knowing how to make a deep-pour board. We’ll guide you through the process and explain not only what to do, but why you are doing it, helping you build the confidence to understand larger resin projects in the future.

Curing & Collection

Deep-pour epoxy resin needs time to cure properly, so your board will not be ready to take home on the day of the workshop.

Your finished serving board will normally be ready approximately one week later, once it has cured sufficiently and we have completed our final quality checks.

You can then:

  • Collect your finished board from our Gedling shop
  • Arrange postage if preferred

Looking After Your Finished Board

Your resin serving board is a decorative and functional piece, but epoxy resin should be protected from excessive heat.
