Heat & Care Information for Your Finished Resin Piece
Your finished piece uses GlassCast 3 epoxy resin.
Cured epoxy resin is hard and durable, but it should not be treated as a heatproof surface.
As a general guideline, objects placed directly onto the finished resin should remain well below 58°C.
Avoid placing the following directly onto the resin:
- Hot mugs or cups
- Hot plates
- Saucepans or frying pans
- Ovenware
- Hot candle containers
- Anything placed directly from a kettle, oven, microwave or hob
Room-temperature and mildly warm items are generally suitable.
For anything hot, always use a coaster, trivet or heat-resistant mat.
Why is 58°C important?
The 58°C figure should not be treated as a safe hot-object temperature rating.
It relates to the resin’s glass-transition temperature after appropriate post-curing. As epoxy approaches this temperature, it may begin to soften, mark, distort or become cloudy, particularly when heat is combined with pressure or weight.
The resin also requires several days to develop its full hardness, so please avoid placing warm or heavy objects on your finished piece until it has fully cured.
Curing & Collection
Epoxy resin requires proper curing time to achieve a durable, professional finish.
Your finished resin coasters or serving board will normally be ready approximately one week after the workshop, once fully cured and quality checked.
You can:
- Collect your finished piece from our Nottingham store
- Arrange postage if preferred
Please check our full Terms & Conditions using the link at the footer of the website.
Cancellations must be made at least 7 days before the course date to be eligible for a refund.
Video was a bespoke class serving board design may change and coasters are not in moulds for this course..
