Start with the pre-printed greyscale canvas of the ‘Vase with 15 sunflowers’.

Think about what colours to use and where to apply them. Also plan which colours you will create by mixing colours. Make sure to test the mixes before you apply them to the finished piece. Stage one: Make a transparent colour glaze by mixing water with a couple drops of paint.

Apply transparent glaze to the greyscale image. Allow transparent layer to dry. Stage two: Use colours straight from the tube for this stage (do not add water to the paint).

Apply opaque colours to refine details and highlights
