How to Use Masking Fluid Watercolour Painting

Masking Fluid Technique

Masking fluid is a rubberised solution which can be used to block out an area of your painting. This is then left to dry, enabling you to put bold washes straight across the blocked out area. When the paint is completely dry, the masking fluid can be rubbed off leaving a white area which can then we painted separately.

 

This example shows a white daisy blocked out with masking fluid. The masking fluid can now be removed and a delicate colour can then be painted onto the flower
