Description
This copy of J. M. W. Turners Rain, Steam and Speed – The Great Western Railway.
Painted using oil paints and medium by Mark Hutchby.
Being one of Marks favourite Turner paintings, he thought it was a great way to test some new products. He has painted it on a 30 inch by 24 inch standard canvas.
Done as an exercise into glazing and testing Sennelier Turner medium.
Mark started this painting off by blocking in with an acrylic paint setting the tones up for the oil layers. Using a mix of high quality oil paint including Sennelier and Williamburgs, Mark learnt how good the Turner medium was in helping add more glazes and layer to this a painting. Also how having really high quality pigmented paints really helps add more depth and colours.
